Carl J. Chaney is the President & Chief Executive Officer of Hancock Holding Company, Hancock Bank, Hancock Bank of Louisiana, and Hancock Bank of Alabama. Previously he served as the banks Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Chaney has worked for the bank for 13 years. He is an honor graduate of the University of Mississippi earning a BBA in Banking and Finance and a Juris Doctorate from the University Of Mississippi School Of Law. While at Ole Miss, Carl was the recipient of the Swayze Scholar, an annual award presented to the highest ranked banking and finance major among all Mississippi Universities. He was also a University Scholar, on the Chancellors and Deans Honor Rolls and selected into Whos Who in American Colleges and Universities. He also served as President of the student body at the University of Mississippi School of Business and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.Chaney is Chair-Elect of the Mississippi Bankers Association and has served as a member of numerous committees of the Mississippi, Louisiana, and Florida Bankers Associations. He is Treasurer and serves on the Board of Directors of the MS Economic Council and the Executive Committee of the Gulf Coast Business Council. Chaney is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Power Company and serves as the Chairman of the Controls and Compliance Committee. Carl served as Chairman of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce and he is the past Chairman of the Ole Miss Banking and Finance Advisory Council. Carl is the course coordinator and instructor in the Bank Regulatory Law course at the Graduate School of Banking at LSU in Baton Rouge. He is also an instructor at the Alabama Banking School and the MS School of Banking, having received the Distinguished Faculty Award.
